Holiday Art Show & Gift Sale

Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts will be hosting a Holiday Art Show & Gift Sale at the historic Hopkins Cabin located just inside picturesque Massanutten Resort. A variety of arts & crafts from both local and member artists will be featured and available for sale. Come celebrate the holiday season with art, enjoy some complimentary refreshments, and meet some great artists!

34th Annual Dayton Days Autumn Celebration!

Come join the artists of the Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts and the Artisans Courtyard of Dayton from 8:30am-4pm on Saturday, October 5, 2013, for the 34th Annual Dayton Days Autumn Celebration in historic Dayton, Virginia! This year's celebration will feature over 300 artists, craftsmen, musicians, performers, and food vendors!

The Artisans Courtyard is currently recruiting artists, craftsmen, musicians, & others to participate in this year's Dayton Days Autumn Celebration festival. Anyone interested in preforming or doing live demonstrations at this year's event should contact LauraLea Marlyn-Spitler at 540-578-1680.

The Artisans Courtyard of Dayton is located next to Cooks Creek Park at 230 Bowman Road, Dayton, Virginia. Normal hours of operation are 10-5 Thursday through Saturday during the fall season.

Fall Arts Festival 2013

Call for Artists, Craftsmen, Musicians & Street Performers

The Artisan Galleries Cooperative, the non-profit parent organization of both the Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts and the Artisans Courtyard of Dayton, is currently recruiting artists, craftsmen, musicians, & others to participate as performers, demonstrators, and/or inter-active artists at the Artisans Courtyard of Dayton during this year's Dayton Days Festival on October 5, 2013.

The Artisan Galleries Cooperative supports and encourages a broad and diverse array of artistic mediums. So, whether you are a musician, dancer, juggler, magician, cartoonist, blacksmith, potter, painter, or street performer, we would be very interested in hearing from you.

Summer 2013 Calendar of Events & Classes

Welcome to the Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts' Calendar of Events for Summer 2013!

FEATURED ARTISTS

During the month of May, the Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts will feature “Images of Art” by local Multimedia Artist Polly Holden Nunn, as well as the collected works of local JMU Professor, Author, & Artist Judith Townsend Rocchiccioli. Polly’s works include oils, watercolors, acrylics, sculpture, and clay. Judith's works include her recently published medical thriller, "Chaos at Crescent Medical Center", hand-painted silk scarves, hand-crafted jewelry, and silk paintings. Judith's second novel, "The Imposter", is scheduled for publication this June.

Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts will feature a variety of original artwork by a few of our Resident Artists during the month of June, including the oil paintings of Mary Ellen Janti, the silk paintings and artwork of Judith Townsend Rocchiccioli, and the pencil drawings of LauraLea Marlyn-Spitler.

For the month of July, the gallery will host an exhibit of original artwork by emerging young Guest Artist, Emily Selwood.  Emily's exhibit will include such artwork as eclectic abstract oil paintings, painted on large canvases using bright jewel tones and vivid colors. The opening celebration and preview of Emily's exhibit is scheduled for 6pm on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts.  The event is free and open to the public.  Complimentary wine, cheese, and light refreshments will also be served.

During the month of August, the gallery will proudly present a special exhibit of handcrafted jewelry by our own Resident Artist & local Jewelry Designer Stephani Moore. Stephani's stunning jewelry collection will feature unique pieces of wire wrapped bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and other jewelry that incorporates such materials as tarnish-resistant argentium silver, Swarovski crystals, gemstones, and copper wire.  The gallery will host an opening for Stephani's exhibit from 5-8pm on Friday, August 2, 2013, at our downtown location. As always, this event is free and open to the public and will include complimentary wine and light refreshment service! 


CHILDREN’S ART CLASS SERIES: YOUTH ART ON SATURDAYS

Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts will be hosting a "Youth Art on Saturdays" series this summer for children ages 7-14 on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The cost for each class is $20 and includes supplies.

Friday, May 3, 2013, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm - As part of Harrisonburg's First Fridays Event, the Artisans Downtown Gallery & Gifts will host an open house to celebrate and show case the works of May's Featured Artist.
